Make-Up Tricks for Natural and Dark Skin

Natural skin is great to work with because so many colors blend in well with your eyes. You can use the technique discussed for fair skin above, as well as the technique discussed for dark skin below. To create your own look, though, try out a dark grey with a deep green, and some silver. This color combination can be really dramatic, and it will also bring out your eye color.

Start with the dark grey, applying it onto your lid, while blending it towards the top. Next, top it with the dark green, again making sure you blend it. You should apply the dark green towards the outer part of your eye, not applying any (if at all) to the inner section, Make sure you blend! This colored area should only go up to the area a little bit past the crease of your eye, somewhat near the brow line.

Next, apply some of the dark grey underneath your eye in a very thin line. Blend this in. Then, add just a bit of silver underneath this dark grey line, and blend it in again. Also add a bit of silver onto the inner part of your eye, on the eye lid. This dash of lighter color will make the darker colors stand out even more. Line your eyes with black eyeliner, keeping it near the eyelash line. Finally, add some shimmer to your brow line and blend this in.

For dark skin, the colors you need to use are darker colors like dark blues and greys, and then a color which is slightly darker than your skin tone but matches your skin tone, like a glittery dark brown or a dusty rose. This color which matches your skin will bring out the natural beauty of your dark skin and increase the dramatic look.

Apply the darkest color onto your eyelid. Let's say it's a dark blue. Fill in your eyelid with this color, making it dark at the bottom and lighter as you get closer to the top. Next, fill in what remains of the top of the eyelid, and past the crease with the grey. Make sure you blend these colors in. Then, add the dusty rose or dark brown on top, near your brow line, but not on it. Just below the brow line and blending into the darker colors.

Next, add some of the dark blue underneath your eye, make it a very thin line. Top this with the grey and blend them both in, creating a smoky effect. You can choose to add just a bit of the dusty rose or dark brown onto the inner part of your eye, both on top and underneath. Finally, line your eyes with black eyeliner, making sure you line them near the eyelash line.

No matter what your skin color, add some shimmer to your chin area, below the lips (where you feel a ball like structure) as well as underneath the eye where eye bags often appear. These lighter areas on your face will draw attention up to the darkness of your dramatic eyes even more. Remember to top off your eyes with mascara. Once you have these dramatic eyes, everyone will be drawn to them and no one will notice your double chin!

If you're unsure about what colors go well with your skin, most make‐up sales people can help you find perfect matches. They can also show you how to do these techniques, or offer alternatives to the techniques mentioned.
