It’s adorable on little children and could be the reason why we allow them to get away with murder, but as you get older fat cheeks begin to become annoying. It goes from making you look cherub like, to making you look just… fat. If you’re in your later teens, early twenties, or even mid twenties and elderly women still have the urge to pinch your cheeks, then its time to face your fat face problem. You have fat cheeks.
Fat cheeks can have several causes. The first one is genetic. You may have a genetic predisposition to have fat cheeks. Look at your parents. Do they have chubby cheeks? Check out your siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins while you’re at it. It can be a family trait or a trait of your heritage. Some races do have certain traits that are common among the people, and fat cheeks could be yours. If this is the case, do not worry. Just because you have a predisposition to fat cheeks doesn’t mean you have to live with them. In the same way that people can have a predisposition to diabetes and prevent its onset by watching their diet, and staying healthy, you can prevent or reverse your fat cheeks situation through a proper diet and facial exercise meant to target cheeks specifically.
Another cause of fat cheeks is that you were once overweight. Usually when people are overweight and they begin losing weight, the face is one of the first places that loses weight. Other people, however don’t lose the facial weight as much as they should. As a result they are left with fat cheeks. You may be in this situation, and again there is a facial exercise and right diet for you!
A third cause to fat cheeks is Bulimia Nervosa, the eating disorder in which a person binges on food and purges their food shortly after either through laxatives or vomiting. The constant vomiting of a bulimic person can lead to the almost permanent swelling of salivary glands in the mouth. This makes the face look fatter, and is where the term chipmunk cheeks was derived. If you suffer from Bulimia Nervosa and have fat cheeks, it is recommended that you seek psychological help for you disorder first, and you will find that with a healthy diet, your fat cheeks will go down and eventually go away.
The final cause for fat cheeks is baby fat. The fat cheeks that make children so adorable can linger on till late twenties. If you are suffering from fat cheeks due to baby fat, then you have two options. You can either wait to get older, and watch your cheeks thin out naturally, or you can do face exercises for the cheeks. Fat cheeks make you look younger, which some people enjoy, while others do not. If you do want to get rid of the baby fat in your cheeks, you will probably look a bit older depending on how far you go with your face exercise.
Just remember that no matter what the cause, there is a solution to fat cheeks!
