Easy Yoga Poses (Face Yoga continued)

Position Six:

1. Look at yourself in the mirror.
2. Take a deep breath. As you release this breath, flutter your lips and move your head from side to side.
3. Do this exercise five times.

Position Seven:

1. Look at yourself in the mirror.
2. Smile naturally. Then, take your fingers and press your cheeks upwards, making sure you smoothen the crease your smile makes on either side of your mouth.
3. Hold this position for thirty seconds.
4. Do this exercise five times.

Position Eight:

1. Stand with your legs together. Bring your left leg forward and hold a lunge position.
2. Twist your body towards your left leg. As you do this, lift your face upwards.
3. Lift your lips sidewards towards the left, leaving your right cheek taught and your left cheek relaxed.
4. While your left cheek is relaxed, move it up and down so the tightness in your right cheek intensifies then loosens. Hold this position, while moving your left cheek for ten seconds.
5. Do the same towards the right side of your body. Right food forward, twist your body right, and move your right cheek so your left cheek is taught.
6. Do this exercise (both sides) five times.

Position Nine:

1. Stand with your legs wide apart.
2. Bend forward as much as you can.
3. Using your two hands, put your thumbs on your chin, like you're pushing it inward while placing your fingers on your cheeks, pushing upwards.
4. Remember to keep your forehead relaxed and do not hold your breath, keep breathing!
5. Hold this position for five to seven seconds then move your body up to the starting position.
6. Do this exercise five times.

Position Ten:

1. Sit yourself down Indian style. If you know how to do the yoga lotus position, you can do this too.
2. Make sure your back and shoulders maintain good posture. You can choose to have a mirror in front of you if you like.
3. Position your pointer fingers on the inside of your eyebrows, near the top of your nose. Count to ten and slowly move your fingers outwards towards your temples, passing through your eyebrows.
4. As you do this, close your eyelids. By the time your fingers get to your temples, your eyelids should be completely closed.
5. Do this exercise ten times.

As you practice face yoga, you will notice how silly you look doing the various poses. If you feel like laughing, go ahead and laugh but continue on with your poses. Laughing is another fantastic way to relieve tension as well as exercise the muscles in your face. What is important is that after you laugh at yourself, you continue on till the exercises are finished. Some people feel so silly that they stop doing the poses. Try not to think this way. Remember that the long term benefits will definitely outweigh the short term silliness.

If you enrolled yourself in a gym as part of your daily exercise routine, check and see if they have any regular yoga classes available to the gym users. You can sign up for this yoga class and ask the teacher if s/he incorporates face yoga poses into the traditional poses. Sometimes joining a class helps a lot because it increases your discipline, and makes you feel less goofy!
