Many people who suffer from a double chin despite being thin or having lost a good amount of excess weight turn to double chin surgery to fix their problem. Double chin surgery has the ability to make a person look younger by giving them a smoother and more sculpted chin. The chiseled chin look is something many people strive for, and so it isn’t a wonder why the double chin surgery has become increasingly popular among cosmetic procedures lately.
There are several options for those who seek double chin surgery. You can choose to do a face lift, which can make the skin around the jaw tighter and smoother or you can choose to do a chin tuck, which also makes the skin around the jaw smoother and tighter and has a major aim to get rid of loose skin that was left behind by the excess fat. These double chin surgery procedures are pretty effective, but are not without their side effects. The usual numbness, pain, and long recovery period come with both these surgeries, as well as specific post-operation procedures. Also both these surgeries can leave scars in people who are known to scar, and so it is best to consult your doctor as to whether or not you are a good candidate for double chin surgery in terms of skin scarring.
A newer form of double chin surgery, however, is double chin liposuction also known as tumescent liposuction. In this double chin surgery, the fat found underneath the chin or beneath your jaw is extracted by making small incisions and slowly sucking the excess fat out from underneath the chin. The instruments are microscopic and make very small incisions in well hidden spots underneath the chin so that the surgery does not leave behind any marks or evidence of the procedure.. So far, this procedure has minimal side effects when compared to the first two procedures mentioned, though the post-operation recommendations are still important to follow. Plus doctors promise a faster recovery time for tumescent liposuction.
While tumescent liposuction may seem like the answer to double chin surgery, it is still invasive surgery. Always consult your doctor as to whether or not this is the best course of action for you to take. If double chin surgery is not necessary, you should probably save yourself the time, money, and pain that comes with it. Since any surgical procedure does involve risks such as infection and allergic reactions, it’s always better to take a more natural course of action towards battling your double chin, if you still have the option for the natural route. Try doing double chin exercises before going under the knife to see how well these exercises work for you. Who knows? Maybe a little chin stretching and tapping was all you needed! Check out the many double chin exercises which you can do at home (and for free) and wait three months to see the results. You will probably find that you will be very happy with your naturally reducing double chin!
